Making Room for Baby

We are expecting our first baby in July, so right now I get to have fun designing a nursery!

There are LOTS of ideas on Pinterest. I started out by pinning pictures of every cool baby room I could find into one Nursery board.

Eventually I began to gravitate towards two separate theme ideas. For me, theme has to come first, then color scheme. I think a Star Wars nursery would be awesome, but I'm not sure I want to foist that upon a baby girl (we don't know the gender yet!), and we might get sick of it after a while...

Another cute theme is the fantasy woodland/forest theme. There are so many color combinations that could work, and it could be adapted for either a boy or a girl. I think this could be perfect because that way we can use the room for any future kids as well without redoing it again.

For a woodland room, I would use the IKEA black & white tree curtains we already own. The windows are directly opposite the door, so that draws the eye as a focal wall right away. However, since I have a white dresser, that could help the curtains blend in more, allowing the right wall to become a focal wall if I paint a mural on it and put the crib smack in the center, framed by painted foliage. I'm thinking about re-creating a Mary Blair painting from Alice in Wonderland directly on the wall in large scale.

Preparing for ECCC

Emerald City Comic Con is less than a month away so I have been busy making things and preparing for the convention. For the first time my friend Sammy and I will have our own table in Artist Alley to display and sell our creations.

Last Friday night I finished a drawstring backpack with wings. I think it's pretty cool. It's like functional, instant cosplay.

After the Holidays...

I haven't posted in a while, but I have a good excuse!

A Christmas present from my sis!

Also, I recently resumed crafting after putting away all of the Christmas wrapping that was taking over my craft room. I made this.
